Here’s a fan-made thing I came across at some point and thought was pretty well done. Sources of most clips are given in the montage at the beginning of the video. In order, those are:
- 《宫锁心玉》”Palace” from 2011, where Tong Liya was cast as 年素言 Nian Suyan. “Palace” was a huge hit and eventually generated a number of later ‘seasons.’ Once those sequels and films came out, the title of the 2011 original was redacted and made longer in order to make it easier to tell them all apart. Following the changes, the first season is now commonly known in English by such remarkably silly names as “Palace: The Lock Heart Jade” or “Jade Palace Lock Heart.”
- 《母仪天下》”The Queens” from 2008. Here she appeared in the role of 赵飞燕 Zhao Feiyan, the famous Han-era femme fatale-slash-former dancing girl turned empress.
- 《唐宫美人天下》from late 2011. MDL calls this “Beauty World” but the alternate title “Beauties of the Tang Palace” is considerably closer to the actual meaning of the drama’s name. Here she played a smallish but highly memorable role as 舞倾城 Wu Qingcheng.
- 《怪侠一枝梅》 “The Vigilantes in Masks” which started airing in late December 2010. Tong Liya’s character’s name is 荆如忆 Jing Ruyi.
- As 沈怜星 Shen Lianxing in《爱无痕》”Love Without a Trace.” This drama began shooting in late 2013, wrapped in March 2014, and will most likely never be aired due a very complicated investor-side dispute.
- As 吴美人 Wu Meiren/The Lady Wu in 2012’s《王的女人》”Beauties of the Emperor.”
- The last one in the montage is Tong Liya as 蒙浅雪 Meng Qianxue in 《琅琊榜之风起长林》, best known as “Nirvana in Fire 2.”
From there on in, probably the majority of the clips in the video are taken from “The Queens,” with an additional hefty chunk coming from 《梦回唐朝》”Dreaming Back to the Tang Dynasty” (2013), even though this drama wasn’t mentioned in the opening montage.
Another clip source isn’t a drama, but an ad spot for a video game that Tong Liya did back in 2020:
This ad probably did more for her career than it did for the actual game- it’s nearly guaranteed to show up in any Tong Liya appreciation-type montage medley that’s been made ever since.
